About Nigel and Sue

We are Nigel and Sue, and we are passionate about exploring the world, getting outdoors and spending time in nature. All our lives we’ve been travel junkies and between us we’ve visited over 70 countries. Since 2013 we’ve visited 11 new countries together. More recently, we’ve been on a 3 year Australia Road Trip and our passion for helping others plan their road trips is what inspired this blog.

We met WAY back in the 90’s when we worked together for one of the world’s largest youth coach tour companies. However the universe had different plans for us, so we went off and lived separate lives. But fate stepped in! We met up for dinner to chat about adventure travel back in 2012 and we’ve been together ever since.

It was our shared love of travel and adventure that brought us together again, and it’s what really excites us now. Having that background in “living on the road”, the idea of van life and road trips just seemed natural to us.

Why Road Trips?

When the world went crazy in 2020 and we had to put our overseas travel plans on hold, we bought and converted a 4×4 Mercedes Sprinter van into our tiny home on wheels. We moved into our van, joined the “Vanlife” community and have been on an Australia Road Trip since January 2021.

We believe that Road Trips are the best way to really explore a place. We love stopping off at the “places in-between” the big tourist attractions – we love that authentic local experience.

Our motto is: “Adventure has no Age Limit” and we hope to inspire you to get outside and live your own adventures. It doesn’t have to be packing up and moving into a van, it could just be taking a hike in your local bushland. Whatever! Nature is the great healer, both physically, mentally and spiritually.

Why a Travel Blog?

I mean, aren’t there hundreds of travel blogs on the internet? Sure, there are! But what makes ours different (and hopefully your favourite!) is our focus on vanlife road trips specifically. Whether you’re driving a campervan or towing a caravan, we aim to be your best travel resource.

We believe in telling it like it is. We don’t just visit the tourist hot-spots and highlights. We also love getting off-the-beaten-path and finding those hidden gems you might not have even heard of!

Our Mission

Our mission is to help you plan your own road trip, whether that’s an extended “Big Lap of Australia”, or just a short few weeks in a particular destination. We aim to do this by not only telling you the “Best things to do in XYZ” but also where to stay, where to fill up your fuel and water tanks, and where to dump your toilet!

We share our travels (and our lifestyle) on our YouTube channel and Instagram. We receive so many questions about the places we visit, and about the features in our van. It just seemed a logical next step to start a written blog.

So whether you’re into Road Trips, adventure travel, hiking, vanlife, or just being an “armchair” adventure traveller, we hope you enjoy following along with our adventures.

What’s our favourite place we’ve ever been to?

This is probably the most common question we are ever asked! And its SO HARD to answer. As you know, we both love nature and being outdoors, so our favourite places are those where we can enjoy beautiful landscapes and adventure.

Sue’s top three countries are (in no particular order) Italy, Nepal and Turkey. Nigel’s are (he’s still thinking about this haha!)

In Australia we LOVE the outback, as well as the Tasmanian wilderness. Perhaps our favourite is Boodjamulla National Park (but ask us again tomorrow and we might have a different answer!).
